Volcanic Caves

Lava tunnel on the Volcano

Venture into the murky Volcanic Caves on the snow-covered slopes of the Devil´s House – Volcano Villarrica – where in ancient times the Mapuche Indians used to perform rituals. There is a scientific station that provides information on the current activity of Volcano Villarrica with photos of historic eruptions. Then, you will be shown the incredible lava tunnel, 400m deep and formed 2 million years ago. You have a well-informed guide for both these parts. Then, following the track up the side of the volcano, you can marvel at the spectacular panoramic view of glacial valleys, immense Lake Villarrica and Volcano Llaima on the horizon. A brilliant trip both for the views and for the unique experience of being in a lava tunnel!
